ST.ANTHONY'S STUN TRINITY BY 77 RUNS
(Sunday Times story by Aubry Kuruppu)

Embarassed and almost humbled a week ago, the Antonians hit back at the Trinitians with a vengeance to score a stunning 77 run win over the latter in their 30th limited over encounter at Katugastota yesterday, for Richard Aluvihare Trophy.

Opener Hiran Wickremasekara set the stage with a polished 74 and added 89 runs for the second wicket with Manoj Sarathchandra before the latter nobly sacrificed his wicket to save his partner. Riyal started quietly and then exploded taking 21 off Jayasundara's over.

233 was a gettable target, but Trinity approached it badly and was soon under pressure. Except for Wijesuriya, Jaleel,Wickrema, Dickwella and Jayasundara the others cut a sorry figure.

Adil Riyal with 4 wickets, two catches and 50 runs walked away with the Best Bowler, Best Fielder and the Man of the Match award while Hiran Wickremasekara was adjudged the Best Batsman.

The awards were given away by the former Antonian and Sri Lanka test cricketer Piyal Wijetunga who graced the occasion as the chief guest.
